Catapult: Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting Tips:
  1. I have not heard of the issue with getting prompted again and again to install. Perhaps you could delete the app and try a fresh install. 
  2. If on a Mac and having issues accessing all directories, then setting the Security & Privacy settings to allow full access for the Catapult, SlingshotCopy and SyncExternalUsers binaries. 
  3. For connection issues, please ensure that these ports are bidirectionally-open through all firewalls between server and client:

    • UDP port range 5001-5015 (selected by default)
    • TCP ports 30303 and 30304
  4. The only things which can cause that warning are either the ports are not open, or else security software is blocking access.

To install third-party software like Catapult on a Mac, follow these steps to bypass the “unidentified developer” warning:


1. Locate the downloaded installer: Open the Downloads folder or wherever the Catapult installer was saved.

2. Right-click (or Control-click) the installer file: Instead of double-clicking, right-click (or hold down the Control key and click) on the installer file.

3. Select “Open” from the context menu: This option allows you to open the file with a security prompt.

4. Confirm you want to open it: A pop-up will appear, warning that Catapult is from an unidentified developer. Click Open to proceed.

5. Follow the installation instructions: Complete the installation process as instructed by the Catapult installer.


This should allow you to install the software without disabling your Mac’s security features entirely.

Video submissions to NatureFootage are handled via Catapult, a file transfer application.

When downloading Catapult, please make sure you are downloading the "Catapult Client Only" version for Windows or Mac respectively.

Upon installation of Catapult, simply click the + icon in the top right corner and enter these credentials:

Server: upload.naturefootage.com
Username: [Your username for NatureFootage.com]
Password: [Your password for NatureFootage.com]

If you forgot your username or password or if you have trouble accessing our servers, email support@naturefootage.com for assistance.

Please note that Catapult is only the vehicle for files to upload to your account.  Your clips are only visible in Catapult for as long as it takes for them to upload.  Once the clip is uploaded, it is removed from the Catapult window.  To view your newly uploaded clips, you will need to find the submission in Cliplog, which is accessible from your NatureFootage account under the "Accounts" menu.
