INTRO TO LOGGING TEMPLATES
We've designed the layout of our Clip Edit Interface (this is the page where you will add keywords to your clips) to be customizable based on what you shoot and how you log. When you look on the Clip Edit Interface, you can see various fields that allow you to add metadata to your footage. A Logging Template allows you to save custom layouts of the various logging options you would like to use based around the subject matter of your footage. In other words, you can hide fields and keywords on the Clip Edit Interface that you do not typically use, in order to help you save time while logging.
Please note that a Logging Template cannot be used to save a set of keywords that can be applied to your clips while logging footage. For that, you will need to use the Keyword Set tool, which you can find instructions for in the help article below:
Logging Templates save the following information:
- Hidden and Displayed Fields ①
- Hidden and Displayed Keywords Lists ②
- Hidden and Displayed Keywords through the Manage all Keywords List ③
DEFAULT LOGGING TEMPLATE
The Default Logging Template is what you see when you first enter Clip Edit Mode (see the help article Logging Single Clips on how to access this mode). The Default Template includes all logging options and cannot be modified. When any changes are made to your logging interface by hiding or displaying logging fields or keywords while using the Default Logging Template, the template’s status will be displayed as ‘Default Template (modified)’ in the Logging Template Manager pane on the left side of the page ④. In order to save these changes, you will need to create a new Logging Template.
CREATING & SAVING A LOGGING TEMPLATE
By default, all logging fields are turned on in your logging interface. The switch allows you to hide any fields you do not intend to use. We do not recommend hiding these fields, as they are required to be logged in order for your footage to go online:
Category
License Type
Price Level
Location
The names of the logging fields you've hidden will be listed on the left side of the Clip Edit interface in the "Hidden Fields" pane, located beneath the Keyword Sets pane and the Logging Template pane. You can restore any of these fields to your Clip Edit interface by clicking on the red switch
next to the field name.
If you still want to display a keyword field in your Logging Template but do not want to see the keywords contained within that field, you can hide them by clicking on the "Hide List" link in said keyword field:
You can also specific hide keywords you do not use within the various logging fields. Click on the "Manage all Keywords" ③ link in the field where you would like to hide keywords. A pop up window will appear where you can hide/show any of Cliplog's suggested keywords using the same switch button used to hide/show keyword fields.
In "Manage all Keywords" pop up window, you can also add your own custom keywords to the field. Type your custom keyword into the text box of the "Manage Keyword List" pop up window, and click "Add":
Your custom keyword will be displayed with an on/off switch alongside all of Cliplog's suggested keywords. To delete your custom keyword, simply click on the red "x" symbol next to your keyword switch.
Lastly, if you want to quickly display all suggested and custom keywords in a keyword field without opening the "Manage all Keywords" pop up window and selecting them one by one, you can do this by clicking on the "Show All" link in the bottom right corner of the keyword field. Any keywords you have previously hidden in this field will display in red text. If you select one of these keywords to add to your clip(s), the remaining hidden keywords will be hidden again.
If you do not select any of the hidden keywords to add to your clip(s) and wish to quickly hid them again, you can do so by clicking "Hide Extras" in the bottom right hand corner of keyword field.
After you've hidden fields and/or keywords and are done with customizing your template, you can name this new template in the 'Save Layout as a New Logging Template' field on the left of the Clip Edit page in the Logging Template manager field ④, and then click the 'Create' button to save your new template.
