In this help article, you will learn how to navigate through Cliplog and how to find your footage in Cliplog after it has finished uploading via
Catapult.
SUBMISSIONS
Once you have accessed Cliplog, all of your uploaded footage can be found in the Submissions panel on the left side of the page. Submissions are stored in folders, which are organized by year and then by month. A submission is comprised of all footage uploaded in a single day. Each submission name is comprised of your contributor prefix (i.e. "JAN") and the date the submission was uploaded (year, month, day). To see all footage in a submission, simply click on the submission name (i.e. "JAN200422").
You can also use the "Filter" option to filter your submissions (please note: you can only search for submission names in this field, not keywords). You can also hide or view all submissions you have uploaded by clicking on "Collapse All" (closes all submission folders) or "Expand All", (opens all submission folders).
Each clip in the submission is numbered, i.e. AB151203_0001, AB151203_0002, AB151203_0003, etc. There is no limit to the amount of clips you can upload in a submission.
This panel, as well as the Clip Search, Search Filter, and Clipbin panels (all of these will be discussed below) can be collapsed and expanded by clicking on the white triangle in the upper right corner of each panel:
Here is a rundown of all of the buttons and menus listed above the clips in a submission:
1) "View all clips" – clicking this button will show you every clip you have ever uploaded to Cliplog. You can browse through your entire collection by clicking on the page numbers listed on the right side of the page.
2) "Viewing Clips" - shows you the number of clips you are currently viewing in Cliplog. This number changes depending on what you are currently looking at, whether it be the amount of clips in a submission, the total amount of clips you have uploaded to Cliplog (displayed after clicking "View all clips"), the number of clips in a Clipbin, Sequence, or Gallery, or the number of clips in your Search Results (More on this when we discuss "Clip Search" and "Search Filter" below).
3) "Select All" & "Unselect" - these buttons allow you to select or unselect all clips visible on a page. This can be useful for batch logging if all of your footage or almost all of your footage share the same keywords. Please note that if you are viewing a submission or search with multiple pages of clips, these buttons will only select or unselect all clips visible on the first page, not all clips in the entire search results.
4) Actions menu
- Log selected - this option will log any clips that are currently selected on the page. See the Cliplog Quick Guide and the Cliplog Advanced Guide for more info on logging.
- Remove Keyword(s) - this option allows you to easily remove keywords from a batch of selected clips. See the Remove Keyword(s) Tool help article for more info.
- Move Offline - will move all selected clips offline. Offline clips are not visible to clients on the NatureFootage website.

6) List View & Thumbnail View - you can use these buttons to change how your clips are displayed. This button displays your clips in Thumbnail View:
And this button displays your clips in List View:
In List View, you can see information about your clip, such as the keywords that have been added, clip format and pricing information, the Status of the clip ("unpublished" means your clip is offline and not searchable by clients), the date it was uploaded, and the completion status of your clip's preview media (displayed under "Transcoding Status"). Additionally, you can also see original filenames for your clips. Please note that Clip filenames should not exceed 200 characters (including spaces), or your clip's original filename will not be fully displayed in Cliplog.
7) Clips per page - this menu allows you to change the number of clips displayed on a single page, ranging from 10 clips per page to 200 clips per page.
CLIP SEARCH
The Clip Search panel can be found near the upper left hand corner of the main Cliplog page, above the Search Filter panel.
This panel can be used to search for clips throughout your entire collection. You can search for a keyword, a submission name, or even a specific clip code. You can use this feature to log clips that share the same keyword, to find similar clips that you want to add to a clipbin, etc.
SEARCH FILTER
The Search Filter panel is located on the left hand side of the Cliplog main page, between the Clip Search and Clipbins panels. The panel is collapsed by default unless currently in use. To expand the panel and view the various search filter options, simply click on the panel name.
You can use this panel to filter through whatever clips are displayed on the Cliplog page, be it a specific submission, all clips in your collection ("View All Clips" must be selected first in order to do this), or the search results of whatever you have searched for in the "Clip Search" panel. In the panel you will see several filter options:
- Search within result - this field can be used to search for custom phrases within your search results, i.e. keywords, submission names, or specific clip codes.
- Category - allows you to filter your search results by what category they are logged in. Category is a required logging field which you can read about in the Logging Single Clips and Logging - Keywords Explained help articles.
- License Type - allows you to filter search results by Rights Managed or Royalty Free clips. For more information, please see the License Types help article.
- Price Level - allows you to filter search results by their pricing. For more information, please see the Price Levels help article.
- Format Category - allows you to filter search results by clip frame size / resolution.
- Clip Status - this section allows you to filter search results by the status of your clip. For more information, please see the Clip Status help article.
- Date Added - this menu has several options for you to filter clips by the date they were uploaded to Cliplog.
- Duration - this menu allows you to filter results by clip duration.
Once you've selected the filters you want to use, and/or entered custom text in the "Search within result" field, click on the "Filter" button, and your results will be filtered as desired. To remove some or all of your filters, de-select filter checkboxes and/or remove the custom text in the "Search within result", and click "Filter" again.
CLIPBINS
The Clipbins panel is located between the Search Filter and Submissions panels in Cliplog.
In this panel, you will be able to create Clipbins, which can be converted into Galleries for your Contributor Profile or Sequences which can link similar clips together. You can also create folders for your Clipbins, Galleries, and sequences in this panel. For more information on these features, please see the help articles below:
Please note that Clipbins created in Cliplog, if not converted to a Gallery or Sequence, cannot be viewed outside of Cliplog.
